Starting this week is the 1st Bayelsa State Board Games National Championships in which chess, scrabble and draughts are the games featured. The games will be taken place at the prestigious Glory Land Cultural Center located in Yenagoa - the serene capital city of Bayelsa State of Nigeria. The chess event is sponsored by Galaxy Group Ltd. Galaxy Group Ltd is one of Nigeria's foremost companies in the electrical, civil and dredging industries.
The1st Bayelsa State Board Games National Championships promises to be a very exciting with the expected participation of our leading national champions (male and female) and the Olympiad Qualifiers who are bound to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Chess Olympiad in Germany. Bayelsa State is a powerhouse of chess in Nigeria with the state already providing three (3) of the chess players that will represent Nigeria at the 2008 Chess Olympiad.
